Some highlights from my visit to the meadows of Tarnava Mare around Sighisoara in September:
After grazers stopping to pose on the mountain meadows.
The meadows are very short this time of year..
But there is still lots of flowers when you look down..
Laura Sutcliffe (left) and Láslo Demeter (right) explaining to a group of grassland enthusiasts (from EDGG conference) about the farming practices in the area.
Lots of red-legged grasshoppers hopping about in the sunshine.
Traditional practices still evident in the area (farmer drawing a single felled tree from the edge of the woodland area)
All the hill sides, although appearing closely grazed, have been mown by scythe or small machinery over the summer months.
